A planning application for the Adare bypass and a new road linking Foynes to Limerick is expected to be lodged with An Bord Pleanála before the summer, it was revealed at a meeting of Adare Rathkeale Municipal District recently. Construction will involve 34km of new road, with almost 16km to form part of the M21 motorway, which will bypass Adare as far as the new access road to Rathkeale and then continue as a dual carriageway to Foynes. Councillors were told that the planning process will take about three years, followed by three years of construction. An oral meeting is expected to be held later this year before the final design is ready.
