‘Play in Pink’ day at Mallow Golf Club was a sunshine success!

Pink was the colour of the day on Tuesday at Mallow Golf Club when the ‘Play in Pink’ fundraiser for Breast Cancer Research was held, and players teed off in lovely weather for a most enjoyable and successful event.

Mallow Golf Club was a blaze of pink on Tuesday for the staging of the ‘Play in Pink’ competition in aid of Breast Cancer Research, and the sun shone down brightly on a day when huge numbers of members took part in a great day of golf, followed by a wonderful presentation night. Lady Captain Una Quill, President Pauline Hegarty, and the Mallow Golf Club ‘Play In Pink’ committee and ladies’ committee deserve great credit for putting together such a fabulous day of golf and entertainment in the club. Everyone worked flat-out all day, from catering and bar people to ticket sellers, expert car park attendants and committee members. The art on view throughout the club was truly amazing and we are surely unique in the amount of talent we have in the club as a whole. Huge thanks to Vice-Captain Noreen Murphy for co-ordinating the artistic side of things. Many members sold their work, with all proceeds going to Breast Cancer Research, and they also donated pieces of their art for the raffle which has to have been one of the most attractive array of prizes in a long while. Really attractive flower arrangements were provided by member Marie Mulcahy, and Lady President Pauline added her floral skills to table arrangements, too.
Keary’s of Mallow once again sponsored the event and Marian Keary spoke of her long association with Mallow Golf Club and her pleasure in being involved in such a good cause. Una thanked her on behalf of all members and wished Marian a successful year as Lady Captain in Waterville.
Michael Madden cut his usual dash and won best dressed male once again!
