14-year-old Matt Crowley from Liscarroll is a member of the Ireland senior Powerchair Football team which will travel to Sydney next October to compete in the World Cup, and in order to help cover his travel costs, a table quiz will be held on Friday week, 7th April, in Geary’s Bar, Charleville. There will be prizes for the first three winning teams, as follows: 1st prize €500 (sponsored by Cavanaghs of Charleville), 2nd prize €250 (sponsored by Joe Cusack Tree Care), and
3rd prize €150. All support would be welcome, as the national team is facing a funding shortfall, which means that each player will have to contribute to the cost of the trip.
Matt, who is a full-time powerchair user, is a 2nd year student in Buttevant and plays with his local team Heroes Powerchair Football Club. He is no stranger to international competition, as he received two Ireland caps in 2022 for his appearances with the Irish Powerchair Football team. In order to travel to Sydney next October, Matt will have to raise €25,000, so any and all support would be welcome.
