Pyramid Gymnastics Club got off to a flying start at a friendly Acrobatics competition held in Dublin last weekend. 31 gymnasts travelled from the club to compete against clubs from Galway and Clondalkin in Dublin. The day started with our very experienced Youth trio of Anna Clifford, Nicole Sheehan and Abbie Griffin. They performed an excellent combined routine with daring balances and somersaults to add to their difficulty, to bring home the first of many gold medals.
Next up were the grade 3 competitions. The coaches were so proud of all the performances, and more medals came Pyramid’s way, winning gold, silver and bronze in the women’s pairs and gold in the women’s group.
Our grade 2 women’s group was in a very close competition and again Pyramid won gold and silver in this event. Our pairs were not far behind, winning gold and bronze for the club. For most of our intermediate gymnasts this was their first time at such a big event.
Our final competition was the grade 4 groups and pairs. Our gymnasts performed very elegant and moving routines. These girls were a delight to watch as they danced effortlessly around the floor. Backflips, walkovers and some difficult dynamic moves were all part of their routines.
A lively, energetic and a well-polished routine performed by Chloe Savage and Ella McCormick secured them the gold medal and the trophy for the overall highest score of the day. Well done to all of the above gymnasts who worked so hard to get to this event and put in so much effort to come out on top.
