RATHKEALE BOXING – JASON HARTY TURNS PROFESSIONAL

Jason Harty put pen to paper last Wednesday as he signed a professional contract with one of the biggest promoters in the world, Frank Warren who’s the head of Queensbury Promotions along with his sons George and Francis. Jason had an outstanding amateur career, winning everything from an 11-year-old school boy up to the senior elite title just before Christmas. Jason came in the door of our club as a 9-year-old kid and right from the off you could see the talent, he was like a sponge just wanting to learn everything he could and then ply it in the ring and that’s just what he did and did it very well. He travelled the world with the national team, winning all but one international which was a European schoolboy final where he had to settle for silver along with his twin Jamie, but rectified that loss two years later where he turned that silver to gold. Frank Warren said he had heard so much about Jason that he just couldn’t wait to meet him and sign him up. Frank is hoping to have Jason’s first fight on the undercard of Carl Frampton’s fight in Belfast in early May, and have three more fights before the year ends. Jason has been a credit to us in the club and he’s a credit to his family and all the people in Askeaton and no doubt we will watch Jason progress as a professional over the next few years and hopefully in time we will have a world champion. We as a club are very proud of Jason and wish him the very best of luck in his quest to be champion of the world.
