Rathkeale, a town that offers so much in terms of facilities, outstanding buildings and retail outlets, is putting its best foot forward with an ambitious programme of events through the efforts of the local community council for 2020, writes John Barrett. It kicks off with a gala concert and St Patrick’s Day Festival over the 16th and 17th March.
On the eve of St. Patrick’s Day, Monday night, 16th March, the council will host its Trinity Concert featuring showband legends Shaun O’Dowd, Gina of the Champions and the Con-querors who will perform live in the Rathkeale Community Centre, comm-encing at 8.30pm. The St Patrick’s Day parade, long noted as one of the most successful in County Limerick, has been expanded to an actual festival this year and will feature a market with artisan foods and crafts as well as all the traditional events on Tuesday 17th March.
“Rathkeale people are the friendliest you’ll meet and we’re inviting everyone to come and enjoy the big concert and St Patrick’s Day events,” Pat Neville, chairperson of the Rath-keale Community Council told the Weekly Observer.
“Rathkeale is rising again and the Trinity Concert is our invitation to everyone in Limerick to visit the town for a night of enter-taining fun,” David Lamont, programme director at Rathkeale Community Council, added.
Rathkeale is well located for businesses, homeowners and visitors, between Limerick City and Newcastle West and on the main road to Tralee and Killarney. (See special feature inside)
