The Remembering Zoë charity fundraiser cheque presentations took place on Saturday September 24th last in Leen’s Hotel, Abbeyfeale. The overall funds raised were €18,132 with a cheque for €13,000 going to Abbeyfeale Town Park playground, Make a Wish Foundation received €3,132 and the Community Games received €1,000.  Earlier in the year a cheque for €1,000 was presented to the Hope Foundation and donated to a Children’s Hospital in India when the TY students from Scoil Ide agus Iosef travelled out to work with poor children.  The funds donated to Abbeyfeale Town Park are funding the following works 1. Refurbishment of existing playgrounds consisting of the repainting of existing furniture and fencing.  2. Installation of a 30 metre zip line.  3. Installation of an Autistic play area.  The Remembering Zoë committee would like to offer a sincere thank you to all who participated in this year’s cycle and the relay run to Dublin.  Thank you too to the children and adults who supported the family fun day, the TY students in Colaiste Ide agus Iósef for their donation of €1,000 and to Mick’s Local in Abbeyfeale and the Shamrock Bar in Newcastle West who held fundraising darts competitions for us.  A special word of thanks to the sponsors and volunteers and to everyone from the community, clubs and organisations who support efforts to raise funds for children’s charities in the name of Abbeyfeale’s  Zoë  Scannell whose untimely death was the catalyst for the formation of the Remembering Zoë charity two years ago.
