Rugby Legends Charity Cycle visits Cullinagh

On a rare sunny day last Monday the Rugby Legends Cancer Cyclists arrived at Newcastle West rugby ground in Cullinagh for lunch, en route to Limerick. It was Day 3 of the Mizen to Malin charity cycle in aid of CROSS (Cancer Research into Oesophagus and Stomach Cancer at St. James’ Hospital). Many famous rugby players were there – Paul Wallace (patron of the charity), Richard Wallace, David Wallace, Mick Galwey, Paddy Johns, Scott Hastings and Colin Charvis to name but a few, with over one hundred cyclists taking part in total. Some of our club committee, players and youth players showed up to support the cyclists. After being fed and watered there was plenty of time for photos and autographs before the large group left for the cycle to Limerick. Thanks to Garvey’s for supplying fruit and to Vicky Nash, Roseanne Walker, Darren Normoyle, Denis Scanlan and Gerard Normoyle for all their work on the day. Hope the rest of the week’s cycle goes well for everyone.
