Shane Sweetnam from Castlemagner will represent his country at the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028 after the Ireland equestrian team finished seventh in the final of the FEI World Championships last weekend in Aachen, Germany. Jessica Kuerten’s team comprises Shane, who will be on board the Irish Sport Horse ‘James Kann Cruz’, Darragh Kenny with ‘Eddy Blue’, Bertram Allen with ‘Qonquest De Rigo’, and Cian O’Connor with ‘Chatolinue PS’. Shane has already competed at two Olympic Games, in Tokyo in 2020, and Paris two years ago, so he is no stranger to elite level competition. No doubt he will represent with distinction in two years’ time.
