The sun shone on Saturday last as the second of four open-air events, ‘Sing for your Hometown’, attracted crowds for an afternoon of music provided by local acts. The Living Space Project, organised by Cork County Council, is aimed at using local spaces such as the Civic Plaza and Market Square, and Saturday’s event was delightfully entertaining as 17 performers played a wide range of musical styles that appealed to people of all ages. The line-up was coordinated by Mallow Arts Collective, and afterwards Tadhg Curtis thanked everyone who helped, including the performers and stewards.
The next open-air event will take place on Saturday week, 6th August, with outdoor painting from 10am, followed by an exhibition of the finished artworks in the Hibernian Hotel at 5.30pm. There will also be a walking tour of the town, blending history, folklore, per-formance and art. The final Living Space Project attraction will take place on Sunday 14th August, with music and dance in the grounds of Mallow Castle. It will be a great family day out, and the castle grounds should be looking at their best following recent major works on the entrance and surroundings. (See page 15).
