Mallow GAA Complex was the venue for a very special launch night last Wednesday, when the Patrician Academy announced details of The Kube, which will be held in Carrigoon this Saturday night, starting at 8pm. On the night the draw for heats was held, and contestants got a chance to try a few Kube games to give them an idea of what they will face when they enter the Kube this Saturday. Also in attendance were Paul Rochford and Pat Daly of The Kube’s main sponsors, Bridhaven Nursing Home and Co-Op Superstores, and it was announce that the big €1,000 prize has been donated by O’Keeffe-O’Connell Architects. Sponsors of the various heats were also in attendance. Denise Mulcahy, chairperson of the Academy Parents’ Association said the Association was delighted with the launch, which had a lot of eager and competitive participants, saying, “It was a brilliant atmosphere with lots of fun and laughter, and if the launch night is anything to go by, then this Saturday promises to be a night to remember.
“On the night we will also have a monster raffle and will be auctioning a framed picture of the Munster rugby team (sponsored by Bank of Ireland), signed by each of the players, and also a Cork football jersey (sponsored by AIB) signed by the team,” she added.
Tommy Carroll AKA Dr. Kube said afterward:  “It was a great night, good fun, and good to meet other participants. Kube tasks are not as easy as you would think, not to mind when we are inside in the Kube itself with everybody looking, lights centred on you etc. I’m looking forward to the night and hope it is a successful fundraiser”.
