Mallow Tidy Towns and pupils from St Mary’s Secondary School will come together this Saturday to tackle the town’s litter black-spots as part of the National Spring Clean initiative.
The event will start at 9.30am outside St Mary’s and volunteers are invited to come along and help out. The students have been working hard all year and are well on their way to achieving Green Flag status for their school. Not only have they registered for Spring Clean, but Heather O’Brien from the Irish ladies senior rugby team will be coming to the school to launch their effort.
An Taisce National Spring Clean is in its 17th year, and Mallow Tidy Towns is looking for the support of the whole community throughout the month of April to make a special effort and clean up their area. Spring Clean encourages people from all walks of life to take pride in their local environment and to take action against litter. The success of the Mallow Spring Clean will be very dependent on the support of businesses, traders, schools, clubs, associations, community groups and anything else that moves, turning out to carry out the big clean-up.
So far, Mallow AC, together with Mallow Tidy Towns, have carried out an extensive clean-up from the Ten Arch Bridge to Mallow Racecourse, and an incredible 160 large bags of assorted household litter were collected.
Mallow Tidy Towns is calling on the whole community to come out and make our town a better place, a cleaner place, a place to be proud of. Let us know when you are available and we will be there to help you with equipment and to organise the removal of all rubbish collected.
