St. Mary’s students host coffee morning for teachers

Leaving Cert students at St. Mary’s Secondary School hosted a coffee morning last Friday for their teachers. The event, held in the school’s Aemilian Theatre, was a kind and generous gesture of thanks for all the support and hard work of the Leaving Cert teachers. The coffee morning was a big hit with everyone involved, with smiles all round from teachers and students alike. Indeed, the girls were delighted with the opportunity to mix with teachers outside the formal setting of the classroom. Ample amounts of cake ensured that the students had their teachers in great spirits as stories of first year episodes and Junior Cert dramas were recounted.

In tune with the atmosphere of goodwill, some of the cakes were set aside to be donated to Meals On Wheels. Acting Principal Úna Griffin thanked the students for organising such a kind-hearted event and pledged the continued support of the staff for what can be a difficult, stressful, yet rewarding final year of secondary school. Despite the challenging nature of sixth year, it was noted that academic obstacles are best faced with all involved pulling together with a sense of purpose and positivity. With the staff firmly on side, no doubt the sixth year girls of St. Mary’s can look forward to a productive and successful year.
