Charleville Lions Club in conjunction with St. Joseph’s Foundation will present the Three Tenors in Concert at Holy Cross Church, Charleville on Saturday, December 5th.
Having a similar “Community Based Ethos” these two groups have successfully worked together many times in the past and have hosted many and varied fundraising events down through the years.  Speaking at the recent launch of the forthcoming Three Tenors Concert, Lions Club President, Mr. John Twomey said  “to mark the 25th anniversary of Charleville Lions Club, we are delighted to be hosting the Three Tenors Concert in Holy Cross Church, Charleville.  We are very grateful to the local clergy for their support and allowing us to stage the event in Holy Cross Church.  We would also like to thank St. Joseph’s Foundation for their support with this event and we are proud of our long association with St. Joseph’s Foundation.  Charleville Lions Club is a member of Lions Clubs International, the worlds largest service club organisation with 1.35 million members in 46,000 clubs located throughout 200 countries.   Lions Club International’s motto is “We Serve” and the mission statement is “to empower volunteers to serve their community and meet humanitarian needs”

St. Joseph’s Foundation was founded in 1968.  At that time, it was apparent in the area that many children with learning disabilities were not attending school and had no immediate prospect of doing so.   A committee was formed to respond to this need.  Under its motto “To Care” and it’s mission statement, “to provide people with disabilities the opportunity to live the life of their choice to their fullest potential” the Foundation continues to grow and to respond to the needs of people with learning disabilities, both children and adults.   Comprehensive services are now provided for in excess of 900 people from within a 25 mile radius of Charleville.  Speaking at the recent launch, Mr. Eamon McCarthy, Chairman of St. Joseph’s Foundation said “St. Joseph’s Foundation is delighted to be chosen by Charleville Lions Club as beneficiaries of the forthcoming concert.  We look forward to working together with Charleville Lions Club over the coming weeks and we are confident this will be a spectacular and most enjoyable concert.   Fundraising is hugely significant for the Foundation in that it enables us to maintain and develop the services being provided. We are deeply indebted to the various local groups and individuals who continue to support us”
