“There are no plans to close Mallow General Hospital”

Following questions about service levels at Mallow General Hospital in terms of tackling COVID-19, Mallow TD Seán Sherlock has received assurances from the Health Service Executive that there are no plans to close the hospital.

“I have written proof from the CEO of the South/South West Hospital Group that there are no plans to close Mallow General Hospital, which provides essential services to the people of North Cork and surrounding areas,” said Deputy Sherlock.

“The South/South West Hospital Group are committed to ensuring that MGH continues to develop services locally and, to support this growth, have provided funding for the upgrading and refurbishing of infrastructure and facilities within the hospital. I will continue to maintain a close eye on operations at the hospital to ensure that no services are reduced.”
“It’s important that we acknowledge the total work the staff are doing, and I wish those who are presently on sick leave a speedy recovery,” he concluded.
