There’s a party in Buttevant this Saturday!

Cork County Council is delighted to be joining with Buttevant Community Council this Saturday from 3-6pm for a Christmas party event to celebrate the recent completion of roadworks on the town’s main street, and everyone is invited to the fun occasion, with market stalls, fireworks, music and entertainment on offer. The Buttevant Town Scheme invested over €5 million in the town which was funded by Cork County Council and Transport Infrastructure Ireland. Works included full pavement reconstruction, drainage, footpath kerbing, public lighting and undergrounding of services. The works were planned and designed by the Roads Design Office of Cork County Council with construction works carried out by Priority Construction and supervised by consultants ARUPS. Construction started in February 2015 and was in the main finished by August 2016, with unforeseen archaeological discoveries delaying completion of the works.
John Paul O’Shea, who will deputise for the Mayor of County Cork Cllr. Seamus McGrath at the celebration party, said,  “These works were of a significant disruption to the town during this period. All normal activities in the town were facilitated as best as was practically possible, with works ceasing for Christmas 2015 and for the annual Cahirmee Fair, and work adjacent to the primary school undertaken during the summer holidays. On behalf of Cork County Council, I want to thank the businesses and community of Buttevant for their co-operation and understanding during this time.”
