Team Limerick Clean-up TLC2 the brainchild of J.P McManus and Limerick City and County Council was a big success across Limerick again this year. In Kilmallock 70 local volunteers of all ages were involved in the clean-up on Good Friday morning. The event was organised locally by Tidy Towns with special thanks to Kilmallock CES, the fire service, Ballyhoura Tús, Fishing Club, Deebert House Hotel and SuperValu. The fishing club cleaned sections of the river and the fire service cleaned some buildings and pavements in the town. The dry morning on Good Friday made the event productive and enjoyable. The event ended at 1.00p.m. with refreshments at Deebert House Hotel. This gave everyone an opportunity to reflect on a morning well spent and to plan other projects. The social dimension of the clean-up was something that J.P McManus was anxious to promote, with local people taking the initiative to clean their own areas and to encourage solidarity between groups and the individuals involved.
