TOM LEAVES ATHEA ON 250KM TOMATHON

Well known Limerick businessman, Tom Moran set off from his native Athea on Tuesday morning on a 250km trip that will bring him to the Red Cow Moran Hotel on Friday week.

Tom who is the leading the Tomathon, a walk organised to raise funds for Pieta House, was seen off on his trip by a host of locals, children and a number of national and local dignitaries.

The successful entrepreneur was accompanied by his family, children Tracey, Karen and Michael and son-in-law Thor, three of Tom’s sisters and his brother.

Well known comedian Brendan Grace started the walk on a pony and trap with his grand-children and also present were Minister for Sport, Jimmy Deenihan, Joan Freeman, CEO of Pieta House and local Councillors Francis Foley, John Sheehan and Stephen Keary. So far over €40,000 has been raised and it is hoped to raise €100,000 by the end of the walk.
