Last Wednesday evening saw the opening of the annual VTOS Shanagolden Art Exhibition at Newcastle West Library. This year’s exhibition is entitled “No Limits” and displays the works completed by first and second year adult learners as part of QQI Level 5 Painting class. The exhibit includes a variety of subject matter and media; acrylics on canvas, mixed media, oils and pastels, acrylic on board and collage. All pieces on display are for sale at a reasonable price
Eimear Brophy, Adult Education Officer with Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board (LCETB) opened the exhibition complimenting the paintings, especially as only one member of the group had painted prior to VTOS. She thanked the learners for choosing LCETB and trusting the organisation with their learning journey. She complimented the “second chance education in a first class setting at VTOS Shanagolden.”
VTOS student Michael Flatley, on behalf of the students, thanked tutor Maureen Barry Fitzgerald, for her encouragement and guidance to experience painting and showing us that there are “No Limits” to what we can achieve.
VTOS Shanagolden, administered by LCETB, offers fulltime learning which includes computers (beginners and advanced), business, communications and general learning as well as painting and drawing leading to QQI Level 5 Information Processing Award.
Adults over the age of 21 and in receipt of social welfare benefits for at least 6 months are eligible to apply for VTOS, which is a full time programme aimed at up skilling participants for employment or further education. For more information contact 069-60106 or melanie.casey@lcetb.ie
VTOS Shanagolden wishes to thank Newcastle West library for hosting the event. Congratulations to everyone involved and especially to all the learners
