WELCOME FOR CPL ANNOUNCEMENT FOR FOYNES

The announcement by CPL Fuels Ireland that they have concluded an agreement to lease a 17-acre site at the port of Foynes has been warmly welcomed. Last June CPL announced plans to build a new state of the art smokeless fuel plant at the Port of Foynes which will create 142 jobs. CPL Industries is a UK based company and is Europe’s leading manufacturer and wholesaler of smokeless solid fuel products for the domestic heating market.

The plant will employ approximately 100 people when fully operational, with 42 additional people in sales, distribution and plant maintenance, while 150 people will be employed in the construction of the new facility. The company hopes to have the plant operational by 2015.

The plant will also have a requirement for approximately 80,000 tonnes of biomass when in full production, and discussions have commenced with growers about how this need can be met by developing biomass production over the next few years in Ireland.

Welcoming the announcement, local Deputy Dan Neville TD said: “CPL confirmed to me this week that they will be applying for planning permission for the development of a biofuel plant.”

CPL Fuels have launched an extensive marketing campaign to promote the range of clean technology products, under the umbrella brand Homefire Smokeless Fuel.
