The West Limerick based Desmond Chapter of BNI (Business Network International) recently celebrated its second birthday. Even more recently the chapter was awarded a Plaque of Distinction from BNI Ireland by Andy Heart, BNI Executive Director, for being one of the select chapters to reach €2 million in referral business amongst its members. The Desmond Chapter, whose current Chairperson is Elaina Fitzgerald, averages at a membership of around 25 members, and are currently seeking further professionals to join in the categories of plumber, florist, web designer, tiler, and marketing services. The €2m of business generated is all revenue that was created and kept in the Limerick area. That’s approximately €20,000 per week of business that the chapters members are generating in sales for each other!
BNI is the world’s most successful business networking organisation, providing a structured system for the develop-ment and exchange of business referrals. Last year, members of Business Network International (BNI) passed thousands of referrals which generated millions of euro worth of business for each other! BNI is a business and professional networking organisation that allows only one person per profession to join a chapter, so membership allows you to lock out your competitors!
Belonging to BNI is like having dozens of sales people working for you because all the other members carry several copies of your business cards around with them. When they meet someone new who could use your products or service, they hand your card out and recommend your services.
It’s as simple as that! In the UK and Ireland alone, there are 666 BNI Chapters that in 2010 gave 696,258 referrals, leading to business worth €273 million. In this region BNI chapters have generated over €12 million worth of business for their members, familys and local communities.
