WORK ON BUTTEVANT STREETSCAPE TO COMMENCE EARLY IN 2015

The end of the long wait for a major realign-ment of the streets and pavements in Buttevant is in sight.

Earlier this year the NRA allocated €2 million towards the project and this has been topped up in recent weeks with a further allocation of €750,000.

With a plan for the upgrading in place, Cork County Council are now in a position to award a contract for the carrying out of the works which is expected to happen early in 2015.

Work has been ongoing on the N20 adjacent to Buttevant over the last number of months, leading to long delays and hold-ups for through traffic.

When work commences on the Buttevant streetscape, major hold-ups are again likely to be the norm, with sources this week advocating that when it arises, traffic diversions at Lisballyhea and Newtwopothouse should be put in place.
