Mallow will be the site for the first skatepark in North Cork after Cork County Council announced this week that construction of the skatepark in Mallow Town Park will begin in the autumn of this year. The skatepark will be built on the site of the old playground on the Park Road, and the plans include the retention of a smaller, upgraded playground alongside the new skatepark.
Welcoming the announcement, Cllr. Gearóid Murphy said: “There has been wonderful feedback from the local community since the plans for a skatepark were announced, and I am delighted that construction will begin this year. This will be the first skatepark in North Cork and it will complement the new playground at Mallow Castle perfectly. Mallow is a growing town with many young families and it is the perfect place for this new facility.”
The news was also welcomed by Cllr Tony O’Shea.
