Cardinal to consecrate new Ballyhea church bell

The parish of Ballyhea will give a warm wel-come tomorrow, Friday, to Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke, who is coming to the parish to consecrate the new church bell which will ring out from the church tower this weekend for the first time. Various parish representatives will be present tomorrow to welcome the cardinal to the parish, and the new bell will be on display for all to admire. The consecration ceremony will be held on Saturday at 12 noon, beginning with solemn High Mass followed by the Rite of Consecration, with Palestrina’s Missa Brevis and Allegri’s Miserere being sung.

A fund has been set up to defray the cost of casting and erecting the new bell, and anyone wishing to contribute or to sponsor particular parts of the bell may do so by contacting the parish priest at 063-81470. A subscribers’ list will be published in a special commemorative booklet, and letters for the inscription on the new bell may also be purchased.

All are welcome to attend this weekend’s celeb-ration.
