Gaelscoil Goes Blue for “My Canine Companion” charity

e51

The pupils and staff at Gaelscoil Thomais Dáibhís set aside their normal uniform yesterday and donned items of blue clothing. Blue ballons and bunting decorated the school as seven very special visitors came to see the children. Seven gorgeous dogs and their trainers from My Canine Companion, a national charity founded in 2011 by Cliona O’Rourke spent the morning with the children. The main purpose of the charity is to provide highly trained and skilled service dogs to people with disabilities, particularly autism.

Since its foundation, the charity “My Canine Companion” has been training assistance dogs to help children and families who have a child with special needs. The pupils of the Gaelscoil were raising funds to help train Einstein who will undergo the special programme organised by My Canine Companion. Upon completion, Einstein will work with a child in the school. Service Dogs make dramatic differences’ in the quality of life for children with Autism and their families. Not only do these dogs assist them physically, but often these special dogs also become the child’s best friend.

Gabhaimid buíochas le gach dalta sa Ghaelscoil as an tacaíocht agus guímid gach rath ar Einstein agus ar My Canine Companion don todchaí.
