It represented another significant milestone for the Drive to Survive project when Nurse Manager for the Laura Lynn Foundation, Thomas Dawson attended a cheque presentation night hosted in Gallahue’s Bar, Ballylanders on Saturday night last.

Thomas, who was there to pick up a cheque for the magnificent amount of €37,133.02, spoke at length of the splendid fundraising effort and how such an amount had been raised in such a short space of time.

He also explained the services provided by the Laura Lynn Foundation which includes residential care for young adults with disabilities and children with life limiting conditions.

The foundation employs 80 staff in its teaching, fundraising and care provision departments.

Thomas also confirmed that Laura Lynn receives no funding from the HSE and totally dependant on fundraising and different volunteer groups to help keep the centre open and functioning.

The president of the Drive To Survive Group, Bill O’Mahony presented each of the volunteers from trips in 2013 and 2015 with special certificates of participation as a token of appreciation and in recognition of their tremendous fundraising effort.

Bill also spoke of his admiration for the hard work and amount of money raised since the formation of the group in 2011. He thanked all the people that gave so generously to allow this to happen.
