Munster Maths and Science Family Fair returns this Sunday

This Sunday, people of all ages from all over Munster will flock to Mallow GAA Complex for the Munster Maths and Science Family Fair, which will run from 11am to 4pm, with free entry. Because of Covid restrictions, the fair has not been held since 2019, and Mallow Development Partnership is looking forward to welcoming exhibitors and visitors to the indoor Astro hall in Carrigoon.
With old favourites returning, mixed with exciting new exhibitors, visitors will get to experience mind-blowing experiments, amazing demonstrations, cutting-edge presentations and will even take part in contests to win prizes. GLOBE Ireland, exhibiting for the first time this year will have their infrared thermo-meter probe, allowing visitors to attempt to find the warmest and coolest surface temperature outside the exhibit. Prizes will be on offer to the most successful entrants!
As usual there will be outdoor experiments and demonstrations galore throughout the day, and visitors will be able to enjoy rockets, drones and much, much more. You can even learn how to do outdoor cloud observations, using data from NASA satellites passing overhead!
Other new features at this year’s event include Bioeconomy Ireland’s scheduled talk for secondary level students, as well as a question-and-answer session on astron-omy with Ambassador Gray of Australia.
Sharing the floor with so many leaders of industry will be schools in the North Cork area, but the organisers are also pleased to welcome schools from further afield for the first time as the fair grows in stature year-on-year.
This is the 10th event in the annual series, so everyone is invited to call in and join in the fun, and remember it’s all FREE to enjoy.
The Munster Maths and Science Family Fair is organised by volunteers through Mallow Development Partnership. It is sponsored by Cork County Council’s Economic Development Fund and generously supported by the Irish American Partnership as well as Mallow Credit Union.
