Last weekend, 36 gymnasts from Pyramid Gymnastics Club travelled to Dublin to compete in the National Gymfest display competition. The club had two teams involved in this event. Costumes and colour were the highlight of the day, with Pyramid gymnasts taking home one team Gold and team silver for their outstanding displays. Our senior gymnasts also won the trophy for the best choreography on the day.
Our junior gymnasts walked away with the team gold for their amazing performance to a theme called ‘Girl in the Mirror’. This theme was all about being yourself as a person, as a gymnast and having a great time with friends. Fun was in abundance with this group and it clear to see that everyone had a really good time. This display was full of creativity with outstanding balances, team pyramids and dynamic throws. Lots of gymnastics skills were performed by all the gymnasts to a very high standard. Coaches Eleanor Boylan and Laura O Mahony were absolutely thrilled with the performance and the overall result.
Our senior team started their display to Nicky Minaj (‘Let’s Go to the Beach’). Smiling faces let the judges know these girls were really enjoying their dance theme. Skills such as aerial cartwheels, backflips and walkovers were performed by this group of senior gymnasts to their utmost. Sun glasses, togs, and bright shorts matched the vibrant music. Elegant balances, dynamic tempo moves and tumbling skills were very well executed by this bright, bubbly group. This team won the trophy for the best choreography and 2nd place for their team display. Well done to all the gymnasts involved. A great day for parents and gymnasts alike.
