Several schools in the Mallow area will benefit under the first round of funding for the Summer Works Scheme, according to the Minister of State at the Department of Education, Seán Sherlock, who said this week: “Over 500 students in Mallow have benefited from the decision, based on needs requirements by my Department. Priority was designated to mechanical and electrical works, which all of the successful Mallow schools require work on.” The schools that will benefit in the Mallow area include Ballyclough NS, Rahan NS, St Patrick’s Boys National School, and Scoil Iosagain. The successful schools will receive money to improve and upgrade existing school buildings. This first round of funding will allow schools to carry out small and medium scale building works across three categories of projects – Gas, Electrical, and Mechanical. A second round of the scheme is expected to be announced in coming weeks. This round will cover other types of improvement works, with applications still being assessed.
