TONY QUINN RETIRES FROM AN POST AFTER 51 YEARS

Tony, a native of Balliniska, Feohanagh began his career in August 1961 with what was then known as the P&T at fourteen years of age. He started as a telegram boy in Limerick city until he progressed to a postman at 18. He delivered on various routes until he was transferred to Rathkeale in 1975 where he worked alongside his good friend Denny Hartnett amongst others. In 1980 he was again on the move, this time to Newcastle West where he was assigned to the Tournafulla delivery. Tony continued on the Tour route for 32 years which he said “he really enjoyed and was always treated as one of their own”. Unfortunately just before his official retirement Tony lost the love of his love, his beloved wife Mary through a serious illness (they were married for 45 years). Tony was also to lose his eldest sister Mary Moloney at the same time. To celebrate his retirement a very enjoyable night was held at the Shamrock Bar, Newcastle West where he celebrated with colleagues past and present, his family and many friends. All his colleagues, past and present, would like to wish Tony a very happy and healthy retirement.
